As we head into the weekend, I think it's only right to begin by saying a huge well done to our children. The temperatures this week have certainly tested us all, but our pupils have been absolutely remarkable. They have adapted brilliantly to the changing routines, looked after one another and continued to learn with smiles on their faces. We couldn't be prouder of the resilience and maturity they have shown.
I'd also like to pay tribute to our staff. Keeping a school open, safe and running smoothly during extreme weather is no small task, and every member of the team has gone above and beyond to ensure that learning continued while keeping the wellbeing of our children at the heart of every decision. I am incredibly grateful to the whole team for their commitment and teamwork.
Despite the heat, the sound of singing has been filling the school as rehearsals for our Year 3-6 summer production gather pace. The children sound incredible and, if I'm honest, it's becoming increasingly difficult to stay in the office rather than sneak into rehearsals! We can't wait to share the finished performance with you. Tickets are available via ParentPay now.
Monday's Football Fiesta was another highlight of the week. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves. A huge thank you to our PTA for funding the football-themed inflatables, which were a tremendous hit and added an extra layer of excitement to a fantastic day.
We were disappointed to postpone our Jump Out celebrations on Thursday. While it was absolutely the right decision given the weather conditions, we know the children were looking forward to it. The good news is that preparations are already underway for Monday, and we're looking forward to finally celebrating together then. The Jump Out event will begin at 2:45pm. See you then!
Looking ahead to next week, we will be pleased to welcome our new Headteacher, Mrs Jenkins, to school on Tuesday. She is very much looking forward to seeing the wonderful work taking place across the school and meeting pupils and staff ahead of joining us permanently in September.
On Wednesday 1st July, some of our Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils will be performing at Barry Memorial Hall, showcasing everything they have been learning through our Pbuzz instrumental programme and choir. We know they will represent the school brilliantly, and we wish them every success.
Thursday 2nd July is our Transition Morning, when pupils will spend the morning with their new teachers in preparation for September. As I write this, we are putting the finishing touches to next year's class arrangements. Parents will receive confirmation of classes on Wednesday 1st July, giving everyone a chance to prepare ahead of the transition morning.
Finally, after such a warm week, I hope everyone enjoys the welcome return of cooler temperatures over the weekend. Have a restful few days, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another exciting week in school.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Becky Heavyside
