What a wonderful first week back after half term it has been!
Although the weather hasn't quite managed to maintain the glorious sunshine we enjoyed over the break, that certainly hasn't dampened the enthusiasm, creativity and energy of our pupils. School has been buzzing with activity from the moment the children returned.
This week, our children took part in a whole-school Art Day to support their inquiry learning. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to explore their creativity using a wide range of artistic techniques and media. As I walked around the school, I was incredibly impressed by the quality of the work on display and the pride children took in creating their masterpieces.
There were stunning rainforest watercolour paintings bursting with colour, beautifully crafted National Parks collages and an array of imaginative 3D junk-modelled minibeasts. One particularly enormous and rather terrifying centipede even found its way onto my chair! I must admit, it gave me quite a fright before I realised it was one of our pupils' fantastic creations!
Today, our Year 5 and 6 pupils enjoyed a fabulous day at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cyncoed, Cardiff. Alongside children from across our cluster schools, they participated in a range of athletic events, demonstrating determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day.
It was wonderful to see so many children challenging themselves, encouraging one another and showcasing their sporting talents. The skills, effort and positive attitudes on display were truly impressive, and the children represented our school brilliantly.
As we move towards the final few weeks of the school year, it is lovely to see our pupils continuing to embrace every opportunity with such enthusiasm. Thank you, as always, to our dedicated staff for creating these memorable experiences and to our families for your continued support.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes,
Mrs Heavyside
