It’s been a truly brilliant week in school, full of energy, curiosity and a wonderful sense of togetherness.
We launched the start of our new inquiries with a series of exciting “Jump In” days across the school. From the very first moment, classrooms were buzzing with creativity and purpose. Children immersed themselves in art, research, collaboration and presentations, setting the tone for what promises to be a rich and engaging term of learning. It has been fantastic to see such enthusiasm and confidence as pupils begin exploring their new themes.
I hope you’ve enjoyed browsing the summer term curriculum overviews. There is so much to look forward to, with plenty of memorable experiences, hands-on learning and opportunities for children to shine. We’re very excited about what lies ahead.
This week, our Year 2/3 classes had a very special visit from the Bridgend Reptile Centre to kickstart their rainforest inquiry. The children were exceptional; handling the animals with bravery and curiosity. In fact, it’s fair to say they were braver than some of the adults! We had to gently persuade Mrs Jarman-Davies to come out of her cupboard…
Meanwhile, Year 3 and Year 4 have begun an exciting musical journey, taking part in weekly sessions learning to play starter brass instruments known as pBuzzes. These plastic trumpets, kindly donated by the Cardiff and Vale Music Service, are a fantastic introduction to brass playing, helping children develop the correct mouth shapes and techniques. We are delighted to welcome Mr Roberts, who will be working with the children every Friday to build their skills. Who knows? We may well have some virtuoso trumpeters in the making!
It has also been wonderful to see the return of our extra-curricular clubs this week. There has been a fantastic uptake, with so many children getting involved and enjoying new experiences. The school feels vibrant and full of life beyond the classroom, which is exactly what we love to see. Take a look below for details of an exciting new after-school club starting next week.
Looking ahead, we continue our inquiries at pace and are very much looking forward to the PTA Bake Off. There will be a house point for every entry, and I can confirm that some very impressive trophies have arrived in school ready for our winners. I, for one, cannot wait to sample the entries! Aprons at the ready!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic term. Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
