School Meals at Llangan Primary School

At Llangan Primary School, we are proud to work in partnership with the Big Fresh Catering Company to provide a high-quality, healthy, and varied school meal service. Big Fresh's cook in the school kitchen is Cez.

Our menus are thoughtfully designed to ensure that pupils enjoy delicious meals while receiving the nutrition they need to thrive. We also work closely with local suppliers and adhere to all Welsh Government nutritional guidelines and food safety regulations.

Our School Meals Service — Key Information:

• We follow an innovative, healthy menu which fully meets the Healthy Eating (Wales) Regulations 2013.

• Menus run on a 3-week cycle — please see our current menu below.

• Allergen information is readily available and we work closely with families to cater for individual dietary needs.

• Our catering team receives full training in food safety, hygiene, and preparation — ensuring compliance with all Welsh Government Standards.

• Each kitchen is audited annually by Area Managers and regularly inspected by Environmental Health Officers, who provide a Food Hygiene Rating.

• We collaborate with the medical profession to support pupils with specific dietary requirements.

• We regularly involve pupils, parents and staff through School Nutrition Action Groups (SNAG) to help shape our school food offer.

• All food is sourced and procured in line with EU Public Procurement Regulations via Sell2Wales.

School Meal Cost:

The current cost of a primary school meal is £2.50 per day.

Special Dietary Needs:

We are committed to ensuring that no child misses out on a school meal due to dietary needs. If your child requires a special diet, please contact the school — we will be happy to discuss how we can accommodate their needs. You may be asked to provide a dietitian’s letter to support the request.

Payments for School Meals:

School meals are freen for all primary pupils in the Vale of Glamorgan.
