During the week beginning 9th March, we’ll be celebrating STEM Week across the school, with all classes taking part in exciting Design & Engineering projects.
We would love to invite any parents or carers who work in a STEM-related field to come into school to speak to pupils about their work.
STEM covers a huge range of careers — from engineering and computing to healthcare, construction, environmental science, research, data and innovation.
Our aim is simple:
To help children understand the real-world skills behind these careers and to broaden their aspirations for the future.
Talks would be informal (around 15–20 minutes) and could be delivered to your child’s class or a small group.
We are particularly keen to showcase a diverse range of career journeys so that all pupils can see that STEM is for everyone.
If you would be willing to support, please contact the school office by [insert date], outlining:
• Your role
• Your availability during that week
• Preferred days (if applicable)
Thank you for helping us inspire the next generation.

Invitation: Big Fresh Parents’ Meeting – Monday 2nd March
A little reminder that today is set to be a brilliant day at Llangan!
Children are invited to come to school wearing something that makes them feel happy and comfortable – whether that’s pyjamas, a princess dress, a football kit, or any outfit that brings them joy. We want a school full of colour, smiles and personality!
This links perfectly with our PTA Dance-a-thon, which will be taking place throughout the entire day. Year groups will take turns on the dance floor, with three different music channels to choose from. The aim? To keep the dancing chain going all day long – with at least one child dancing at all times during transitions!
Please remember to return sponsorship forms by Friday 13th February, or donations can be made via our JustGiving page.

We had an amazing day welcoming the BBC Wales Today team into school.
Our pupils were absolute superstars as filming took place for a special segment linked to the final of The Traitors, which will be aired tomorrow evening at 6:30pm on BBC Wales Today.
Wednesday 28 January
The Criw Cymraeg are looking forward to celebrating Saint Dwynwen’s Day, the Welsh patron saint of love, with a day filled with fun, creativity and Welsh culture.
Throughout the day, pupils will take part in a range of engaging activities, including energetic clog dancing sessions, traditional Twmpath (barn) dancing, and creative Saint Dwynwen–inspired crafts. Children will also learn about the story of Saint Dwynwen and explore the important values she represents, such as kindness, friendship and respect.
To add to the celebrations, pupils are welcome to wear something red, pink, or with hearts (optional).
This will be a special Welsh celebration for everyone and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our language, culture and shared values. We’re looking forward to a joyful and memorable day for all!

We would like to remind families that Llangan Primary School is a dog-free site, in line with guidance followed by schools across the UK. This is due to health, safety and safeguarding reasons. While we understand that dogs are part of many families and walking them to school may feel convenient, dogs can pose a risk if they become unsettled or get off the lead.

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to clarify some misinformation that has been circulating this afternoon.
Despite weather warnings for snow overnight and tomorrow linked to Storm Goretti, we have no plans to close school tomorrow. Llangan and the Vale of Glamorgan are not currently within the Met Office weather warning area, and school is therefore expected to be open as normal.
We have had a number of parents contact us to say they had heard that the school would be closed tomorrow. This is not correct, and I wanted to reassure everyone directly.
For clarity, our school closure protocol due to adverse weather is based on a number of factors:
If we are instructed to close by the Local Authority due to forecast life-threatening weather
If a site risk assessment indicates that conditions are unsafe for children or staff
If we do not have sufficient staff able to reach school safely to operate within legal staffing ratios
Our Site Manager, Mr Godwin, inspects the school site every morning at 6:00am. If weather conditions were to change significantly from the current Met Office forecast — for example, if we experienced heavy snowfall or unsafe site conditions — I would contact all parents as early as possible via text message, followed by an email.
In the unlikely event of a closure, work would be provided for children to complete at home and shared via the class pages on the school website. Further details would, of course, be communicated at that time.
This email is simply to dispel any misunderstanding and to reassure you that our plan is to be open as usual tomorrow.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards,
James
