Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! I hope you have all had a great Christmas holiday and a good break. It's hard to believe that we are already back in full swing at Llangan Primary School. The children have had a very successful first week back, and I am thrilled to see their enthusiasm for learning.

We have kicked off the new term with a focus on geography and the concepts of space and cynefin. For those who may not be familiar, cynefin is a Welsh word that means belonging to your environment. To start our inquiries, we had a jump-in day on Thursday, where we shared the holiday homework of the selfie challenge. The children took photos of the geographical features in our local area or cynefin, and they have shared these with the school. In a school assembly, we explored these photos in detail, discussing where we live and our surroundings. The children then used their creativity to produce artistic representations of different locations around us. Each class will now embark on an investigation problem that will guide their learning throughout this term.

To keep you informed about the learning that will take place this term, the class teachers have produced learning overviews for parents. These overviews have been uploaded to the class pages on our website, so please take a look.

I would also like to share the class PE days for this term:

  • Year 6: Wednesday
  • Plaza: Thursday
  • Year 1/2: Wednesday
  • Reception: Tuesday

In addition to our regular curriculum, we have some exciting enrichment clubs lined up for this term. Here is the schedule:

  • Table tennis: Monday 3:30-4:45 pm
  • Football/Rugby: Tuesday 3:30-4:15 pm
  • Netball: Tuesday 12-12:30 pm
  • Welsh Club: Friday 12:30-1 pm
  • Mindfulness: Thursday 12:30-1 pm

Lastly, I want to inform you about the upcoming PTA Santes Dwynwen Day party on Thursday, 25th January, from 3:30-5 pm. It promises to be a fun-filled event for the whole family. We are also hosting a parent workshop on the same day, from 14:15-15:15, where we will discuss how to help your child with maths at home and provide an understanding of our school maths policy.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to another fantastic term at Llangan Primary School.

Best wishes,

James Griffiths
