Nadolig 2023 Christmas

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What a wonderful last week of term we have had at Llangan! Our Christmas celebrations continued on Tuesday with the Key Stage 2 Carol Concert taking place both in the afternoon and the evening. The children were fantastic and displayed their amazing talents by performing a mixture of traditional carols and festive songs. This included a rendition of the carol ‘Silent Night’ in Welsh. The children also led the audience through the Christmas story, retelling the birth of Jesus. Not only did the pupils sing beautifully, but they were accompanied, for two carols, by parents and members of the community.

Also on Tuesday, the children had a visit from Father Christmas who met with each class to tell magical festive stories, sing songs, and distribute gifts.

On Thursday, we had our school Christmas Dinner where the children all came together in the hall to enjoy an amazing roast dinner wonderfully prepared by Mrs Meek and Mrs Hill in the kitchen.

Over the past few weeks, the children have been taking part in an enterprise challenge, setting up their own business. They made craft products that they sold at the Christmas Market on Wednesday, which was amazingly well attended by parents and family members.

I must extend a massive ‘Thank you!’ to our Friends and Family Team (PTA) for their hard work in organising the Christmas Raffle, the refreshments before all our productions, the visit from Father Christmas, crackers for the Christmas Dinner, the Christmas Film Night, and decorating the path to the school. The PTA Christmas Elves have been very busy lately, but everyone in the school community is very grateful for the members’ hard work and commitment to ensuring Christmas in Llangan has been magical. Also, their contribution has raised much-needed funds for the school. For example, the Christmas raffle and refreshments alone raised £1311.64.

Another thank you must be extended to Cross Farm Nursery in Pentre Meyrick who not only kindly donated two Christmas trees to the school but also donated 25% of their Christmas Tree sales, which raised an amazing £500.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the Llangan Community for making me feel very welcome during my first term in the school. I feel very privileged to be the headteacher of such a wonderful school which is the heart of our community. Llangan School is very privileged to have such supportive parents, teachers, governors, and friends who help to make it such a wonderful school. I would like to wish all of you a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Tuesday the 9th of January 2024 for the start of the new term.

Nadolig Llawen!
