Llwynog Blog 21/11/25

We’ve had a wonderfully busy and creative week in Dosbarth Llwynog, full of rich learning experiences across the curriculum.
Maths
Our focus in maths has been on strengthening our understanding of fractions. The children compared and ordered numerators, and then moved on to adding and subtracting both simple fractions and those with different values. Their confidence and accuracy are growing brilliantly, and it’s been great to see them applying strategies with increasing independence.
Literacy
In literacy, we continued developing our poetry skills by editing and publishing our own poems. We also used literacy across the curriculum to write powerful newspaper articles about the Blitz and created thoughtful war-themed poems for our inquiry books. The writing produced this week has been mature, reflective and full of strong descriptive language.
Creative Work
This week also included a full ART DAY, which gave learners the chance to immerse themselves in creative exploration. The class experimented with different media, developed techniques, and expressed ideas linked to our inquiry. It was a highlight of the week for many!
Inquiry Learning
Our inquiry work focused on digital creativity. Learners planned the structure and purpose of their own websites in their inquiry books, before beginning to create their designs. They thought carefully about layout, audience, and the clarity of their content.
Health & Wellbeing
We explored a social story focusing on recognising and responding to unsafe relationship scenarios. The children approached the discussions sensitively and showed a strong understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe.
Welsh
In Welsh, we worked on questions discussing feelings in both the past and present tense, helping the class build useful everyday language and sentence structures. Bendigedig pawb!
Community Trip
One of our favourite parts of the week was our visit to St Canna’s Church, where the children planted bulbs and saplings and worked on the minibeast motel in the church grounds. They showed fantastic teamwork and loved being part of a community project. We’re all looking forward to returning in the spring for a picnic.
