Friday 14th November

Poetry and Passion Projects!
What an exciting and productive week we've had in Year 6.
Literacy – War Poetry Wonders
This week, we put the finishing touches on our war poetry, and wow, they are incredible! The pupils have worked with maturity, creativity, and sensitivity as they explored powerful themes and crafted evocative imagery. The final pieces show just how thoughtfully they have engaged with this unit. We are so proud of the effort and emotion they poured into their writing.
Maths – Fractions Begin!
We launched our new unit on comparing and ordering fractions. Year 6 have shown excellent number sense and curiosity as they explored how fractions relate to one another. Using visual models and number lines, they’ve started building a strong foundation that will support more complex fraction work to come.
Inquiry – Passion Projects Completed
Our classroom has been buzzing with excitement as pupils completed their personal passion projects. These independent inquiries allowed the children to dive into their own interests. They asked their own questions, completed independent research and chose how to present their findings. The results were simply phenomenal: creative, unique, and full of personal voice. A huge well done to everyone!
Looking Ahead to Next Week
Literacy
Next week will be a revision week, focusing on basic skills, editing techniques, and preparing pieces of writing for publishing. This is a great chance for pupils to polish their work and show just how much they’ve grown as writers.
Maths
We will continue exploring fractions, building on our understanding and moving into more challenging comparisons and problem-solving.
Inquiry
We begin our final rich task of the year; an exciting challenge where pupils will bring together everything they’ve learned to create their very own website. This will showcase their knowledge, creativity, and understanding of digital design.
