A trip to London and the end of a brilliant half term!
Even though this week was a little shorter due to Monday’s INSET day, Year 6 have certainly packed plenty in! It’s been a busy few days filled with science, fascinating history, sporting teamwork, and some excellent revision work in maths and English.
In science, we’ve been investigating how the arrangement of particles in solid materials can affect their strength and flexibility. The class enjoyed exploring different materials, drawing aprticle diagrams, making predictions, and discussing how their structure influences how they behave. We’ve seen some brilliant scientific thinking and lots of curiosity on display!
Wednesday’s trip to the Imperial War Museum in London was a real highlight. The children had the opportunity to see artefacts from World War II first-hand; including an actual Anderson shelter! It was inspiring to see the class so engaged as they connected their classroom learning to real historical objects and stories. We were incredibly proud of their exemplary behaviour, which was commented on by several members of the public; a real credit to our school and to our families.
This week also saw a friendly football fixture against Llansannor. Well done to everyone who took part, as always, you represent the school brilliantly!
In maths, we’ve been focusing on revision and consolidation of division skills, making sure we’re confident with both short and long division. The children have shown growing confidence in tackling multi-step problems.
In English, our budding journalists have been hard at work writing news articles about The Blitz. They’ve been using powerful language, quotes, and eyewitness perspectives to bring this historic event to life. The creativity and attention to detail in their writing has been wonderful to see.
Phew! What a week!
It was lovely to chat and catch up with parents at our parents' evenings, diolch o galon for being so supportive of your children's learning.
We hope you have a happy and relaxed half term break. We can’t wait to see everyone back, refreshed and ready for more learning adventures next term!
