Friday 17th October

Year 6 are working hard to understand what it means to be 'anti-racist'.

Shwmae!
This week has been full of fun in Year 6.
We've been immersed in our inquiry; learning about the Battle of Britain, The Blitz and the effects these had on not just the whole country, but here in Wales.
Did you know a bomb dropped on Aberthin Road, near Cowbridge?

The children have showed maturity and curiosity whilst acquiring new knowledge and their learning has been fantastic to see. We are excited to dive even deeper into our inquiry next week when we visit the Imperial War Museum in London. See below for a few reminders!

In our literacy lessons we have been preparing to write our own news articles and in maths we have been reviewing our short and long division skills.

As if that wasn't enough, we also celebrated Diwrnod Shwmae! on Wednesday. Da iawn to the Criw Cymraeg who supported us brilliantly in our celebrations. On Friday, we all wore red to school to show our support for our school's quest to be an anti-racist school. We considered how being anti-racist is different to being non-racist, and designed handprints with anti-racist pledges on them. Da iawn!

Next Wednesday is our trip to the Imperial War Museum in London. A few reminders:

  • Please be in school by 7:20 at the latest! We must leave at 7:30am on the dot.
