Happy Half Term! 23.5.25

Houses of Parliament, Rights Ambassadors and more!

Dosbarth Llwynog have been really busy this week!

We started our week with an incredible trip to London. We started by doing a walking tour, past Buckingham Palace and onto St James's Park, where we had our lunch. We then walked on to the Palace of Westminster, taking in some brief views of Horse Guards Parade and Downing Street before reaching Parliament Square where we saw Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and, of course, the Houses of Parliament.

Inside, we were lucky enough to take a guided tour, learning all about the history of democracy and the building itself. We enjoyed some time in the public galleries of both the Houses of Commons and Lords. We tried to spot some famous faces; Baroness Floella Benjamin and Yvette Cooper MP were amongst those we knew.

After our tour, we enjoyed a brief workshop and a walk back along the Thames to the coach. What an amazing experience! Please ask your children to tell you about all they've learnt. They are knowledgeable about our system of government and would love to tell you about it!

As if that wasn't enough, we then enjoyed a Rights Ambassadors workshop on Wednedsay. This was a great opportunity for us to once again reflect on the UNCRC, and why our rights matter. It was particularly good to talk about these issues after our visit to parliament.

Alongside all of these exciting opportunities, we have also found time to really dive into our inquiry; learning more about arable and pastoral farming and the reasons that some farmers diversify. We have been discussing land use, the pros and cons of land use decisions, and understanding the complex decisions that landowners often have to make.

After half-term, we are going to be looking at diversification in more depth and creating our own business plans for a diversified farm.

REMINDER!

Auditions for our summer show, The Wizard of Oz, will be held on Monday 9th June. The audition script and instructions are all available on Google Classroom.

Have a wonderful half-term with your families. We will see you on Tuesday 3rd June.
