Dosbarth Llwynog Blog – Week of March 20th, 2025

What a busy and exciting week it’s been in Dosbarth Llwynog! Here's a look at what we've been up to:

Year 5’s Adventure at Morfa Bay

This week, Year 5 had the incredible opportunity to go on their residential trip to Morfa Bay! They left on Monday morning and spent three fun-filled days bonding with their classmates and taking on all kinds of thrilling challenges. From archery to the high ropes course, crate stacking to bodyboarding, they had a blast trying out new activities. The muddy run and bushcraft sessions really tested their teamwork, and everyone came back full of stories about their adventures. It was a fantastic experience for Year 5, and they came back to school with lots of new memories and friendships!

Year 6 Busy at School

While Year 5 were off on their adventure, Year 6 had a busy week of their own back at school. In maths, we focused on decimals, fractions, and measurement. The class worked hard on converting between fractions and decimals, as well as learning how to measure with accuracy. Everyone showed great progress, and it was clear that the hard work is paying off!

In literacy, we’ve been diving into the world of biographies. We learned how to write about famous people’s lives, focusing on key events and interesting details. The pupils have done a fantastic job researching and presenting their work, and we can’t wait to read more as we continue to explore this genre!

Our inquiry lessons have been all about lobbying speeches this week. We’ve been discussing how to persuade others and raise awareness for important issues. The class then took on the challenge of creating and performing their own lobbying speeches! It was inspiring to see how passionate and creative everyone was. In art, both year groups worked on designing sustainable cities of the future, drawing creative and eco-friendly solutions for how our world might look in years to come. Their ideas were amazing, and we’re excited to see how their designs evolve!

Looking Ahead: Year 6’s Residential to Llangrannog

Next week, Year 6 will be heading off for their own residential trip to Llangrannog! They are excited about all the fun activities and the chance to bond with each other even more. We can’t wait to hear all about their adventures when they return!

That’s all for this week, Dosbarth Llwynog! We’ve had a fantastic time, and we’re looking forward to another week of learning and fun.

See you all soon!
