Llwynog Blog 20.3.26

This week in Year 6, Dosbarth Llwynog have begun an exciting new writing journey focusing on mystery stories. We started by exploring a range of mystery texts and identifying their key features. We then developed our skills in building tension by experimenting with different sentence types and structures. A big focus was placed on punctuation, particularly how to correctly organise and present direct speech within our writing. To finish the week, we created detailed plans for our own mystery stories—next week we are very excited to bring these ideas to life through our writing!

In Maths, we have been learning all about statistics. We have practised interpreting a variety of data and have developed our skills in creating dual bar charts, line graphs and pie charts. During our Numeracy Across the Curriculum lessons, we applied these skills by analysing plane data, linking our maths learning to our Science work—ardderchog gwaith!

We have also continued working on our individual passion projects as part of our inquiry learning. The children have shown fantastic independence, creativity and curiosity, and we cannot wait to share these projects with families during our upcoming Jump Out Day.

This week, we also spent time in the garden, making the most of the outdoor learning environment. We set up a new soaker hose in the poly tunnel to help water our growing beds, weeded beds, designed our own garden layouts, planted broad bean seedlings and constructed runner bean trellises. It was wonderful to see such teamwork and enthusiasm—gwaith gwych pawb!

We are really looking forward to welcoming parents into our classroom next Thursday for our Jump Out Day. This will be a fantastic opportunity for the children to showcase their hard work from this inquiry and talk through their learning journey with confidence and pride.

Diolch yn fawr for your continued support—we look forward to seeing you next week!
