The week that we ran and enjoyed it!

Dosbarth Draenog - 7.5.26
What a whirlwind of a week we’ve had at Llangan! It has been an action-packed four days filled with determination, powerful writing, and fantastic progress in our Welsh speaking. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:
Running for a Cause: Our Mini-Marathon
The highlight of our week was undoubtedly Tuesday’s mini-marathon fundraising event. The energy on the field was electric as everyone pushed themselves to go the extra mile.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that, thanks to your incredible generosity and the pupils' hard work, we have raised just under £1,800 for Velindre. This is a phenomenal total that will go a long way in supporting cancer patients and their families. A huge well done to all our runners!
Literacy: Voices for Change
In our Literacy sessions, we have been putting the finishing touches on our biographies of Vanessa Nakate.
The children have been fascinated by the Ugandan climate activist’s journey and her fight for environmental justice. We focused on:
-
Using formal, chronological structures.
-
Incorporating powerful quotes to highlight her message.
-
Reflecting on how one person can inspire global change.
Welsh: "Faint o'r gloch yw hi?"
We have been very busy building our confidence in Welsh oracy this week. Our focus has been on developing conversation strategies around telling the time.
Instead of just reciting numbers, we’ve been practicing natural dialogues—asking and answering questions about our daily routines. It’s been wonderful to hear the classroom buzzing with "Hanner awr wedi..." and "Chwarter i..." as we refine our pronunciation and fluency.
