Jump In Week

Busy, busy week learning about Extreme Weather!

Our writing journey has officially begun! This week, the classroom transformed into a newsroom as pupils took on the role of journalists.

  • Peer Interviews: We started by interviewing each other, uncovering the fascinating stories of our classmates.

  • Next Steps: We are now shifting our focus to the inspiring Vanessa Nakate. We will be exploring her life as a world-renowned climate activist and learning how she uses her voice to change the world.

'Jump In' Day: Diving into Extreme Weather

On Monday, we launched our new topic with a fantastic 'Jump In' Day. It was a whirlwind of activity as we integrated our learning across the curriculum:

Subject Activity
Literacy & Computing Researching the science behind extreme weather events.
Art Creating visual representations of the power of nature.
Maths Analysing data and statistics related to global weather patterns.

We also took a moment to reflect on current global events, specifically the earthquake in Japan. It was a poignant opportunity for the class to discuss the real-world impact of the themes we are studying and to send our thoughts to those affected.

Maths Update: Mastering Decimals

We are reaching the finish line! The pupils have shown great resilience in our Decimals unit.

We are currently wrapping up this topic, ensuring everyone feels confident in their understanding before we move on to our next mathematical adventure. Whether it’s place value or calculating with tenths and hundredths, Dosbarth Draenog has been "on point"!

Weather Watch: Keep an eye on the local forecast—can you identify any of the weather types we’ve discussed?

Keep up the hard work, Draenog!
