Dosbarth Draenog - Spring Term 2 - Week 1

Shwmae parents, carers, and friends!

It has been an incredibly busy and exciting week here in Dosbarth Draenog. From high-speed cars to getting stage-ready for our upcoming Welsh celebrations, the children have been working exceptionally hard and showing off their many talents.

Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:

Our Amazing Trip to Aston Martin

We had an absolutely fantastic time visiting Aston Martin! The children were amazed by the engineering, teamwork, and design on display. Back in the classroom, we immediately put our experience to good use by writing some really strong recounts of the trip. The visit also sparked our curiosity, so the children developed their own independent research tasks based on fascinating facts they took away from the day.

Eisteddfod preparations

With our school Eisteddfod coming up on Monday, 2nd March, the classroom has been buzzing with creativity! We have been finalising our competition entries, and the standard this year is incredibly high.

Our class competition entries include:

  • A creative narrative poem.

  • A beautifully presented piece of handwriting.

  • An imaginative art collage made entirely out of 2D shapes.

  • ...plus all the fantastic homework projects the children have brought in!

We have also been busy practising our class performance. This year, we are taking on a climate-themed poetry rap. The children have really embraced the rhythm and the important message behind the words. We are so excited to perform it and we really hope you enjoy it!

Forest School Fun

Elsewhere, we headed out to Forest School to start our brand new topic: Orienteering. We spent the session familiarising ourselves with symbol recognition, which will be a vital skill as we start navigating routes in the coming weeks. We even used the fresh air and outdoor space to squeeze in a little extra practice for our Eisteddfod rap!

Thank you as always for your continued support, especially with the brilliant work completed at home.

Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see you on Monday ready for the Eisteddfod!
