Welsh celebrations!

Dosbarth Draenog - 29.1.26
What a fantastic week it has been in Dosbarth Draenog! We have been busy celebrating, learning, and exploring new ideas together. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to.
On Wednesday, we celebrated Santes Dwynwen’s Day with great enthusiasm! The children enjoyed a delightful twmpath, where they danced and laughed, embracing the spirit of this special day. It was heartwarming to see everyone participating and having fun together. Following the twmpath, we had a closio fit class, where we engaged in some energetic activities that got our hearts pumping and our spirits high. It was a wonderful way to honour the day while promoting physical fitness and teamwork.
As we move forward, we have embarked on an exciting new learning journey focused on sci-fi narratives. To kick things off, we watched a selection of thrilling sci-fi trailers, including classics like Star Wars and E.T. The children were captivated by the imaginative worlds and characters, sparking their creativity and curiosity. This engaging hook has set the stage for our upcoming writing projects, where students will have the opportunity to craft their own sci-fi stories. We can’t wait to see where their imaginations take them!
In Maths this week, we delved into the concept of time, exploring the differences between analogue and digital clocks. The children learned how to read both types of clocks and discussed the importance of time in our daily lives. We incorporated fun activities to reinforce their understanding, and I was impressed by their enthusiasm and willingness to learn. It’s wonderful to see them making connections and applying their knowledge in practical ways.
Our inquiry-based learning took an exciting turn as we conducted a science investigation to determine the best type of material for a parachute. The students worked in teams to design and test their parachutes, using various materials found in our classroom. While none of our parachutes managed to save the egg, the process was filled with valuable lessons about experimentation, problem-solving, and resilience. The children showed great teamwork and creativity in their designs, and I am proud of their efforts!
As we look ahead, I encourage you to discuss these topics with your children at home. Engaging in conversations about their learning not only reinforces their understanding but also fosters a love for learning. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our classroom activities. Together, we are creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for our children to thrive.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
