Year 2/3 Class Blog – A Week of Discovery and Creativity!
What a fantastic week it’s been in Year 2/3!
In Maths, we started the week by counting in different steps, and the children did an amazing job recognising patterns and building their confidence. We then began exploring multiplication, using pictures and repeated addition to help us visualise what multiplication really means. Everyone worked brilliantly to make those connections!
In Literacy, we kicked off the week by analysing a narrative story and identifying the features that make a great story — from exciting characters and settings to problems and resolutions. The children then faced an exciting challenge: to write their own story inspired by the Celts and Romans! Their creativity and imagination have really shone through.
During our Inquiry learning, we’ve been busy researching the different styles of Roman shields. We carefully described the designs and even compared how they might have been used in battle. We also found out why the Romans invaded Wales and how they managed to do it — our historians were full of curiosity and thoughtful questions!
Looking ahead to next week, we’re very excited for our Art Day on Tuesday, where we’ll be getting creative and exploring what changes the Romans brought to Wales. It’s sure to be another busy and inspiring week!
