Atlas explorers

What a busy and exciting start to the term we’ve had in Tylluan Eira!
In maths, we have been exploring the place value of digits in 2, 3, and even 4-digit numbers. The children have worked brilliantly to recognise the value of each digit, compare numbers, and use this knowledge in problem-solving activities.
In geography, we have been learning how to use a key in an atlas to help us find places and identify map symbols. The children have really enjoyed being explorers as they develop their map skills.
Our writing journey began with a big surprise—an unexpected delivery from a boy who used to live in Llangan village! He has set us an exciting challenge, and to prepare, we have been studying the genre of letters. We’ve been spotting important features, such as greetings, closings, and the use of past tense, so that we can write letters of our own in response.
Looking ahead, next week we will be going on a class walk to our local village. The children will take photographs and create artwork to use in an IT presentation, where we will compare Llangan in the past and the present. This will be a fantastic opportunity to combine our history, art, and digital skills.
We can’t wait to share our finished work with you soon!
