4.7 - π» Poems, Paint, and Popstars β What a Week! πΆποΈ

This week has been full of energy, creativity, and unforgettable moments in our classroom
In Literacy, we’ve been exploring the beauty of farm-themed poetry, using similes, alliteration and onomatopoeia to bring our words to life. The children have loved experimenting with language — from buzzing bees to mooing cows — and it’s been brilliant to see their imaginations flourish.
In Maths, we’ve been tackling number problems with growing confidence. Pupils have been using different strategies to reason, explain, and solve — and some have even been writing their own problems to challenge friends!
One of the most exciting days this week was our Transition Day, where we spent time as our new Year 2/3 class. The children showed great maturity and enthusiasm as they explored their new classroom, met their new teacher, and took the next step on their Llangan journey.
We also had a very special visitor this week… the one and only Taylor Swift! There were squeals of delight, plenty of dancing, and some very joyful “shaking it off” in the hall. A truly magical treat for the whole school.
We’ve started some stunning Van Gogh-inspired flower art. The children have been using oil pastels and paints to recreate sunflowers in their own expressive style — we can’t wait to share the final gallery!
And finally, we were proud to enter the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show art competition, where our pupils designed entries for the 2025 show guide cover. The creativity, colour and care in each design was amazing – fingers crossed!
Well done, everyone, for another fun-filled and focused week of learning.
