WB 16/6 - 🌟 Smoothie Skills and Sports Day Thrills! 🥤🏃‍♀️

This week has been full of excitement, energy, and excellent learning as our “From Farm to Fork” inquiry continues to come to life in every corner of the classroom.

In Literacy, the children have been busy becoming digital authors — using iPads and laptops to type up their smoothie instructions. They’ve worked so hard to include bossy verbs, time words like first and finally, and clear, ordered steps. It’s been a fantastic way to combine their writing with digital skills, and the end results are both informative and beautifully presented!

In Maths, we’ve continued to build on our understanding of time. From telling the time to the hour and half past, to exploring trickier concepts like quarter to and quarter past, the children have been rising to the challenge with growing confidence. Our time-based games and class challenges have been a real hit!

Our inquiry work has also taken a practical turn. We’ve begun to look at how much smoothies cost to make, thinking carefully about ingredients, quantities, and prices. The children have even started designing their own smoothie adverts — using persuasive language, bold designs, and colourful illustrations to tempt potential customers for our upcoming Farmers Market!

And of course, one of the biggest highlights this week was our Sports Day. The sun was shining, the races were fun, and the teamwork on display was simply brilliant. Whether they were sprinting, jumping, or cheering on their friends, every child gave their best and showed great sportsmanship. A big thank you to all the families who came to support — it really helped make the day special.

As always, we’re so proud of how the children are throwing themselves into every challenge with curiosity, creativity, and care. Next week brings even more to look forward to… especially as smoothie production gets closer!
