π From Cow to Carton β Another Fantastic Week of Farmyard Fun! π₯

We’ve had another packed and purposeful week in class as our inquiry “Where does our food come from?” continues to grow deeper and more exciting. The children have shown brilliant curiosity and energy as we’ve explored everything from time and conjunctions to tractors and milking machines! Please.
One of the biggest highlights was our trip to Ty Tanglwyst Farm, where we saw how milk goes from cow to carton. We visited the milking parlour, met the cows, and learned all about how technology and care come together on a modern working farm. It was a fantastic chance to see the real-life journey of a food we use every day.
Back in class, our indoor provision areas have been buzzing with creativity and thinking. From building digital farm presentations to running our very own role-play farm shop, the children have been making connections across all areas of learning:
-
In literacy, we’ve been exploring instruction writing and practising using conjunctions like and, but, and because to join ideas. You may have noticed some very bossy (and grammatically accurate!) commands at home.
-
In maths, we’ve started learning about time — days, months, hours and seconds. We’ve also been matching jobs on the farm to the right time of day or season. Time really does fly when you’re having fun!
-
Our creative tasks have included drawing food journeys, making farm comics, acting out farm stories, and even designing full working farms with labelled areas and maps.
We’ve also started preparing for Sports Day in PE. The children are practising their running, balancing, and teamwork skills ready for an exciting event later this term.
It's been wonderful to see how engaged the children have been — asking big questions, trying new challenges, and really immersing themselves in this topic. A big thank you to all the families for continuing to support these experiences at home.
More to come next week — including some tasty surprises as we look closer at what happens once the food leaves the farm!
