🌾 Jumping Into Our New Inquiry – From Farm to Fork! 🚜🐖

What a fantastic week it’s been as we’ve jumped headfirst into our exciting new inquiry: “Where does our food come from?” The classroom has been buzzing with curiosity, and we’ve already had some amazing hands-on experiences to bring our learning to life.

We had an unforgettable Jump In Day at Penllyn Farm! The children had the chance to meet pigs (including some very cute piglets!), lambs, chickens, ponies, and even explore different grains and farming machinery. The facts we learned were fascinating – from how food is grown to how it travels to our plates. A huge thank you to everyone at Penllyn Farm for making it such a memorable day!

In class, we’ve been exploring the journey our food takes from farm to fork, and thinking about healthy diets too. We’ve been looking at cartons, packaging, and containers, and learning to group our foods to understand how they help our bodies.

Speaking of healthy bodies, we had an incredible visit from none other than Steel (Zac George) from Gladiators! He ran an energetic session from his ZActive programme, helping us understand how to stay active and look after both our body and mind. The children were inspired, excited, and definitely a little starstruck!

In maths, we’ve started learning all about money – recognising coins and notes and thinking about their value. If you're out shopping this weekend, see if your child can help you work out the cost of things or spot different coins!

And in literacy, we’ve been diving into instruction texts. We’ve explored bossy verbs and how to use them… so don’t be surprised if you’re suddenly being told to “Get the milk!” or “Chop the carrots!” at home!

We’re off to a flying start, and we can’t wait to see where the rest of the term takes us.

Thanks as always for your support — and here’s to another brilliant week ahead! 💪🌟
