21.3 - Exploring the Ocean – Seagrass, Sea Bins & Aquatic Adventures! 🌊🐠🔍
This week, our class has been diving even deeper into our ocean inquiry, focusing on the importance of seagrass and beginning to explore sea bins—an exciting innovation helping to clean our oceans!
Inquiry – The Power of Seagrass & Sea Bins
Our learning has continued to centre around seagrass, understanding how it supports marine life and helps protect our environment. The children have been fantastic at explaining why seagrass is known as the ‘lungs of the ocean’ and how it absorbs carbon. We have also started to explore sea bins—clever floating bins designed to remove plastic pollution from our oceans. This has sparked some great discussions about how small changes can make a big difference to marine conservation!
Literacy – Informing the World
In Literacy, we have continued to build our non-chronological reports by gathering facts and organising information effectively. The children have been working on using headings, subheadings, and clear facts to create engaging and informative pieces of writing.
Numeracy – Problem-Solving & Practical Maths
In Maths, we have been tackling division, learning how to share and group numbers in different ways. The children have been using practical resources to help visualise their learning, and it's been great to see their confidence grow with this new concept!
Looking Ahead – A Trip to Remember!
Next week, we have something very exciting to look forward to—our trip to Bristol Aquarium on Thursday! This will be a fantastic opportunity to see some of the marine life we have been learning about up close and make real-life connections to our inquiry work.
A great week of learning—da iawn, pawb! We can’t wait for our upcoming ocean adventure! 🌊🐠🐙
