STEM and Design and Technology Week

This week in our Year 2/3 class we have been very busy focusing on STEM and Design and Technology.

On Monday, we were very lucky to have Luke visit our class to show us how Lego Spike Education works. The children had a fantastic time building their own space rovers and then learning how to code them to move. It was wonderful to see the pupils working together, sharing ideas and solving problems as a team. There was lots of excitement as the rovers successfully moved across the floor!

On Tuesday and Thursday, we continued our learning during our Design and Technology lessons by exploring our topic question: “How can we explore space?” The children took part in thoughtful discussions and carefully designed their own space rovers. After planning their ideas, they began building their final rover designs.

The results have been fantastic! The rovers are full of creative features, thoughtful designs and imaginative ideas about how they might help us explore space. We are very proud of the teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills the children showed throughout the week.

Well done, Year 2/3 — you have been brilliant engineers and designers!

Don’t forget on Wednesday 18th March we have our class trip to Cardiff Museum to see the moon sculpture they have just installed.
