Week Beginning 8th September 2025

Discovering our Cynefin
What a busy and exciting first full week back we’ve had in Reception and Year 1!
In maths, we have been practising our number writing and formation, challenging ourselves to see how high we can write. The children have been so proud of showing off their progress and resilience as they pushed themselves to go further each time.
In literacy, we began our Pie Corbett storytelling journey with 'The Little Red Hen', memorising the story and retelling it through actions.
We were also lucky to have a special visit from PCSO Angela this week. She told us all about her role in the community and how she helps to keep us safe. The children asked some brilliant questions and were very excited to sit in her police car, hearing the sirens and seeing the flashing lights in action. This visit linked beautifully with our Cynefin enquiry, as we’ve been exploring what Cynefin means to us and discussing the importance of our local community.
On Wednesday, we braved the rain and headed out for a local walk as part of our Cynefin inquiry. Despite the weather, the children showed real enthusiasm and curiosity as we explored the area around our school, noticing familiar places, spotting local features, and beginning to think about what makes our community unique and special to us.
