Magnetic Magic, Recipe writing and making our own ice cream.
What a week it’s been at Pili Pala! From scientific discovery to artistic expression and delicious creations, the children have been full of energy, imagination, and enthusiasm. Here’s a snapshot of all the fun and learning we’ve shared:
🏃♀️ Sports Day Practice & Update
We’ve been getting active and practising for Sports Day, with the children showing off their running, balancing, and cheering skills! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side this week, so we’ve had to cancel our original Sports Day date. But not to worry – it’s been rearranged for next week, and we can’t wait to welcome you next Thursday. Fingers crossed for sunshine!
🧲 Magnet Magic!
This week in science, we explored what’s magnetic and what’s not. The children carried out hands-on investigations, testing different objects and sharing their predictions. It was wonderful to see their curiosity come to life as they discovered the “magic” of magnets and made sense of the world around them through play and experimentation.
🌿 Herb Oil Creations from the Garden
Our green fingers were put to good use as we ventured into the garden to gather herbs and make our own infused oils. The children loved smelling the fresh herbs and learning their names before carefully adding them to oil to make beautifully scented bottles.
🎨 Self-Portrait Painting
We’ve also been exploring identity and self-expression through art. The children painted their own self-portraits, focusing on the details that make each of us unique. It was a joyful and confidence-boosting activity – and the results are as colourful and expressive as the little artists themselves!
✏️🍦 Writing Ice Cream Instructions
In literacy, we wrote our very own set of instructions for making ice cream. The children thought carefully about the steps involved, using their sequencing and writing skills to explain the process.
🍨 …And on Friday – We’re started making our Own Ice Cream!
That’s right – all that instruction writing was leading up to a real treat! On Friday, we used our recipes to make our very own ice cream. The children were so excited, and it’s a perfect way to bring learning to life.
As always, thank you for being such a supportive part of our Pili Pala family. We love watching your children grow, discover, and shine – and we’re looking forward to another week of fun and adventure, including our rescheduled Sports Day!
Have a lovely weekend,
The Pili Pala Team 🦋
