Week Beginning 15th June 2026

Hedgehogs, Habitats and Hard Work ðŸ¦”

In literacy, we have been developing our skills in organising and constructing information leaflets. Using hedgehogs as our focus animal, the children have been learning how to sort facts under the correct headings and organise information clearly for a reader. We have explored different facts about hedgehogs, discussed which headings would be most suitable and thought carefully about how information should be presented in a leaflet. The children have shown great enthusiasm for this work and are beginning to understand how non-fiction texts are structured.

Building on this learning, we have also started researching and selecting our own British wildlife animals ready to create individual information leaflets. The children enjoyed exploring different animals and gathering interesting facts about their appearance, habitat, diet and behaviour. We are looking forward to seeing their finished leaflets as they continue this writing journey next week.

Alongside our literacy work, the children have been busy creating special gifts for someone important in their lives. They carefully decorated plant pots with their own colourful designs before planting mint plants inside them. The children took great care with their creations and enjoyed learning about how to look after their plants as they grow.

We are all very excited for Jump Out Day next week, where the children will have the opportunity to showcase everything they have learnt throughout our inquiry. We look forward to sharing their hard work and celebrating their learning journey with our families.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you next week!
