Football Matches vs Y Bontfaen

Our football season got off to a flying start with two brilliant games against Y Bontfaen. Both Year 6 and Year 5 teams showed real teamwork, skill, and determination on the pitch. Here’s the match report—written by the players themselves!

Year 6 Match

Team line-up:
Seb, Noah, Jack, Theo, Alicia, Mollie, Gracie, Isla, Scarlett

What a kicking start to the year! We had our first home game at Llangan Primary School and came away with a fantastic result: Llangan 7 – 4 Y Bontfaen.

Kick-off was at 3:15 pm on Monday, 8th September, and by 4:15 we had shone brighter than the stars. It was a tough start though, with Y Bontfaen taking an early 2–0 lead. Clearly, we needed to change tactics. I told the team to tackle hard—and it worked!

With a smooth pass from Theo, I scored our first goal. That gave us the boost we needed. Theo went on to score our second and third goals, giving us the lead. Our adrenaline was running high, and I managed to score our fourth. Then Theo threw the ball into the box and I headed it straight in for our fifth!

The final two goals came from Jack, whose fantastic boot skills sealed the victory.

Even though our opponents scored four, our goalkeeper and defenders were on fire. Considering we haven’t trained since June, this was an incredible performance. I’m really looking forward to what we can achieve this season once training starts up again.

Year 5 Match

Team line-up:
Attack – Camille Meunier & Huw Smart
Midfield – Evan Ham & Eva Reed
Defence – Marla O’Connor & Ella Rogers
Goalkeeper – Arthur Hogben

As we walked onto the pitch, we were ready for the challenge. From the very first whistle, we came out strong. Camille stole the ball, pulled off some brilliant skills, and passed to Huw who smashed it into the goal—1–0 to Llangan!

Soon after, Huw intercepted again, played a one-two with Camille, and fired in another—2–0! Y Bontfaen fought back, but Marla and Eva stood strong in midfield. After a free kick and a few close calls, we pushed forward again. Eva intercepted a pass, took a shot, and although it missed, the pressure forced an own goal from Y Bontfaen’s keeper—3–0 to Llangan!

They pulled one back to make it 3–1, and then another to bring it to 3–2 just before half time.

After the break, the game stayed tight. There were throw-ins, corners, and lots of chances at both ends. Eventually, Y Bontfaen equalised, making it 3–3.

It was a tough and exciting game with great play from both teams.

Both matches showed amazing effort and team spirit. Well done to everyone who played—what a brilliant start to the season!
