Wise Up Week

It has been lovely to welcome the children back after the Easter holidays and welcome some new friends. They have returned happily and have settled well back into their routines.

We have had a very special start to the term with our whole-school “Wise Up” week, focusing on Relationships, Health and Well-being. During this time, the children have been exploring a range of important topics to support their personal, social and emotional development.

Wellbeing
The children have been learning to name and recognise different feelings such as happy, sad and angry, helping them to better understand their own emotions.

Independence

We have been encouraging independence through daily routines, including dressing, toileting and making choices about their activities.

Safety
The children have talked about trusted adults and learnt simple rules to help keep themselves safe.

Empathy
Through discussions and activities, the children have been developing their understanding of kindness, including sharing and using “kind hands”.

Understanding and Personal Responsibility
We have explored how everyone is different, including learning about skin colour and celebrating diversity. The children have also been encouraged to take responsibility by tidying up and helping others.

It has been wonderful to see the children engaging so positively with these themes, and we are very proud of their efforts.

Another great week, well done everyone!
