From Weighing to World Book Day
We have had a very busy and exciting week in Dosbarth Gwenynen and the children have enjoyed lots of different learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.
In Mathematics, we have been investigating weight and capacity. The children explored this through a range of activities in both the indoor and outdoor learning areas. They used scales, containers, water and natural materials to compare which objects were heavier or lighter and to explore which containers held more or less.
During our Literacy activities, the children worked together to write a letter to the zoo asking if they could send us a pet! The children shared lots of wonderful ideas about which animals they would like and helped to think about what we should include in our letter.
In Welsh, we have been learning about farm animals and practising their Welsh names. The children enjoyed matching animals, playing games and using the words during our activities.
At the Tough Spot, the children explored emotions and facial expressions using natural materials and loose parts. They created different faces and talked about how people might feel, helping to develop their emotional understanding and communication skills.
We also enjoyed some very special celebrations this week. On Monday, we celebrated St David’s Day with our own school Eisteddfod. The children had lots of fun taking part in singing, dancing and celebrating Welsh culture.
On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day and it was wonderful to see the children dressed as their favourite book characters. Thank you for all the effort that went into the fantastic costumes! The children enjoyed sharing stories and talking about their favourite books.
