From Zoo Animals to Leek Collages

This week in Dosbarth Gwenynen, we have been very busy exploring our learning through play and creativity.

Our learning has been inspired by the story Dear Zoo. The children loved investigating the story and using their imaginations to build zoo scenes in the small world area using loose parts. We have also been learning about Chinese New Year, exploring the animals linked to this celebration and talking about their special meanings.

In our literacy challenge, the children have been creating their own zoo maps, practising their mark making and beginning to label different areas. In the maths area, we have been counting animals, developing our number recognition and early counting skills.

Outdoor learning has been full of excitement as we created snakes in the outdoor classroom, using a range of materials and tools. Indoors, the children have been super busy producing mixed media leek collages for our Art Eisteddfod entries – we are so proud of their creativity and effort!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We have had a fantastic week of learning and fun and have enjoyed sharing all the Eisteddfod home tasks with the class.
