Super Scientists!
What a wonderfully busy week it has been in Year 5!
In Literacy, we have begun our exciting new writing journey exploring narrative rhyming poems. To start, we completed our cold task based on the theme of castles, and we have been thinking carefully about the rich vocabulary we can use to bring our poems to life. We’ve explored similes, onomatopoeia, and personification to help add depth and creativity to our writing.
During our Inquiry lessons, we have been combining history and technology by creating our very own websites about Cardiff Castle using Google Sites. The children have enjoyed researching, designing, and presenting their information in an engaging and interactive way.
In Science, we have been investigating the fascinating topic of light, learning about the difference between reflection and refraction. The highlight of the week was our hands-on experiment, where we observed these phenomena in action!
In Maths, we’ve been tackling subtraction problems linked to our castle theme and working collaboratively to solve reasoning challenges. It’s been wonderful to see so much teamwork and perseverance as we apply our skills to real-world contexts.
What a fantastic week of learning, creativity, and curiosity!
