Happy Half Term!
What a busy and exciting week we’ve had!
Last week, Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Cardiff Castle. We took part in a fascinating guided tour and workshop, where we learnt all about the different rooms within the castle, its structure, and the various types of castles built throughout history. The children were especially interested in discovering more about the armour, defence systems, and clever designs that kept castles safe in the past. It was a brilliant hands-on experience that really brought our learning to life!
This week, we have been busy completing our literacy writing journey on non-chronological reports. The visit to Cardiff Castle gave us a wealth of information to include in our writing, and the children have worked hard to turn their notes and recounts into detailed, factual reports. We are so proud of the effort, creativity, and focus they have shown.
In our Health and Wellbeing session, we explored the topic of feelings. The children created their very own “Feelings Forests” to help them understand that everyone experiences different emotions at different times—and that it’s perfectly okay to feel however we feel. This activity encouraged thoughtful discussion and reflection, and the children showed great empathy and understanding.
It has been an extremely busy half term, and the children have been absolutely fantastic throughout.
We hope you all have a wonderfully restful break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 3rd November.
Have a lovely half term!
