What a Year, Year 5!

Where has this year gone? It honestly feels like only yesterday we were beginning our Year 5 journey together, and now here we are, ready for a well-deserved summer break. Looking back over the year, I couldn't be prouder of every single one of you.

What a journey it has been!

From our unforgettable residential at Morfa Bay, where you threw yourselves into every challenge with enthusiasm, courage and huge smiles, to exploring the history of Cardiff Castle, you embraced every opportunity with curiosity and excitement. Watching your confidence grow, seeing friendships strengthen and celebrating the way you encouraged one another made those experiences even more special.

Our visit to Aston Martin was another real highlight. You were fascinated by everything you saw, asked thoughtful questions and represented our school beautifully. The compliments I received about your behaviour, manners and maturity made me incredibly proud—you were a credit to yourselves, your families and our school.

Back in the classroom, you have amazed me time and time again. One of my favourite memories has to be your extreme weather poetry. The imagination, creativity and emotion you poured into your writing was simply incredible. Your poems were full of ambitious vocabulary, powerful imagery and original ideas, showing just how much you have grown as confident and talented writers.

But what has made this class so special isn't just what you have achieved academically—it's who you have become.

Throughout the year, you have shown kindness when someone needed a friend, resilience when learning became challenging and determination to always do your very best. You have supported one another, celebrated each other's successes and shown genuine care and respect every single day. You have grown into mature, thoughtful and responsible young people, and it has been wonderful to watch you develop into such fantastic role models.

It has been an absolute privilege to be your teacher this year. Watching each of you grow in confidence, tackle new challenges and discover just how capable you are has been one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Every one of you has your own achievements to celebrate, and every one of you has helped make this year one that I will always remember.

To your families, thank you for your continued support, encouragement and kindness throughout the year. Your support has made such a difference, and I am truly grateful for the partnership we have shared.

Finally, to my wonderful Year 5 class—thank you. Thank you for making me laugh every day, for your enthusiasm, your curiosity, your kindness and your determination. Thank you for the memories we've made together, from Morfa Bay to our classroom adventures and everything in between. It has been a joy to watch you grow, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of your journey this year.

As you move on to Year 6, remember to believe in yourselves as much as I believe in you. Keep working hard, keep asking questions, keep being kind and never stop striving to be the best version of yourselves. I know you are more than ready for the exciting challenges ahead, and I can't wait to hear about everything you achieve.

Have the most wonderful, restful and fun-filled summer. You have worked so hard and truly deserve it. I will miss you all very much.

Take care and good luck in Year 6!
