Wonderful Weather!
This week in school has been full of engaging learning across all areas of the curriculum.
In Maths, we began an exciting new topic all about money. The children have been developing their skills in adding and subtracting different money amounts, as well as solving a range of practical word problems. They have shown great confidence in recognising notation and applying their knowledge to real-life scenarios.
In our Inquiry lessons, we have continued exploring our topic: How does weather affect where we live? The class has been learning about the impacts of extreme weather in both developing and developed countries, thinking carefully about how different communities are affected. We have also been building our data skills by creating line graphs and carrying out research into wildfires, which has sparked some thoughtful discussions.
In Literacy, we have continued our writing journey focusing on biographies. The children have been practising writing in the past tense and have begun researching Vanessa Nakate. They are using their research to plan and write their own biographies, showing a growing understanding of structure and key features of this text type.
During Forest School, we had a fantastic hands-on session where the children built fires using kindling and natural materials found in the outdoor area. They learned how to safely use flint and steel and carefully followed the risk assessments and rules they developed last week. It was wonderful to see such teamwork, responsibility, and respect for the environment.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and effort shown by all the children this week. Well done everyone—keep up the fantastic work!
