Welcome Back!

This week, Year 5 have made a fantastic start to the summer term! The children have returned with great enthusiasm and have already been busy engaging in a range of exciting learning activities.

We have taken part in Wise Up Week, which focused on supporting children’s wellbeing, encouraging positive choices, and developing strategies to help them manage challenges both in and out of school. Throughout the week, pupils have explored themes such as resilience, mindfulness, and making safe and responsible decisions. It has been wonderful to see them reflect thoughtfully and contribute to discussions.

In English, we have completed a mini writing journey centred around free verse poetry. The children wrote their own poems inspired by spring, producing some beautifully creative work. They explored and applied a range of descriptive language techniques, including alliteration, similes, metaphors and juxtaposition, to bring their ideas to life. We were very impressed with their imagination and expression.

In maths, our focus has been on time. The class have been learning to read, write and convert between digital and analogue time. They have worked hard to develop their confidence and accuracy, and we will continue to build on this in the coming weeks.

Some of our pupils also had the opportunity to represent the school in a netball tournament at Llansannor Primary School. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, and we are very proud of their efforts.

It has been a brilliant start to the term, and we are looking forward to all the exciting learning still to come!
