Happy Easter!

What a busy and exciting final week it has been in Year 5!

We kicked off the week by completing our formal letter writing task. The children wrote thoughtful and persuasive letters to the CEO of Aston Martin, sharing their innovative ideas on how to make the company more sustainable. We were incredibly impressed with the maturity and creativity shown in their writing.

Throughout the process, pupils worked hard to apply a range of language features we have been learning. These included the use of modal verbs and adverbs to express possibility and certainty, as well as relative clauses to add extra detail and clarity. The children also made excellent use of key vocabulary linked to sustainability, helping to make their arguments clear and convincing.

In RE, we learned about how Christians celebrate Easter and explored the key events of Holy Week. The children showed great curiosity and respect while deepening their understanding of these important traditions.

We also had lots of fun celebrating World Maths Day! The class took part in a variety of reasoning tasks, Mathletics challenges, and problem-solving activities. Their enthusiasm was fantastic – we definitely LOVE MATHS!!

To bring our inquiry to a close, we held our “Jump Out Day.” It was wonderful to welcome parents and carers into the classroom to showcase all the fantastic learning from our inquiry, “Why are electric vehicles shaping our future?” The children spoke confidently and proudly about their work.

To finish off the week, we enjoyed our Easter egg hunt and Hopathon – a perfect way to celebrate together!

We wish you all a restful and fun Easter holiday and look forward to welcoming you back for the summer term!
