What a busy and exciting week we have had in Year 5!

We launched our brand-new literacy writing journey, focusing on sci-fi narratives. To kick things off in true Llangan style, we took a trip to the Oscars! The children watched four sci-fi film trailers and evaluated them based on graphics, music, characters, setting, and storyline. After lots of thoughtful discussion, the Llangan Oscar was awarded to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi! 
Following this, we completed our cold task and began learning about the importance of using speech verbs and speech marks in our writing.

In maths, we continued our work on fractions, finding fractions of numbers and solving problems using our growing knowledge and confidence with fractions.

In science, we explored air resistance. The children worked brilliantly in groups to plan their own investigations, considering different variables. They then carried out their experiments, carefully recording results and evaluating their findings.

A fantastic week of learning—well done, Year 5!
