Year 6 Literacy Homework: A Letter to the Future

Imagine it is the year 2050.

Write a letter to a child living near a National Park explaining:

  • What National Parks are and why they are important.
  • What threats National Parks and wildlife faced in 2026.
  • What people did (or should have done) to protect them.
  • What the National Park looks like now in 2050.
  • What advice you would give future generations to help protect the environment.

Success Criteria
✔ Write in the correct letter format.
✔ Use paragraphs to organise ideas.
✔ Include facts from our National Parks inquiry.
✔ Use persuasive language to encourage environmental responsibility.
✔ Include a range of sentence types and ambitious vocabulary.
✔ Check spelling, punctuation and grammar carefully.

Challenge
Include a paragraph describing two possible futures:

  • What might happen if people protect National Parks?
  • What might happen if people fail to protect them?
