Reception & Year 1 Homework

This week, we would like you to become a Maths Explorer!

Take a short walk around your local area with a grown-up. This could be on your way to the shops, around your street, on the way to the park, or during your journey to school.

 Your Maths Mission

Look carefully around you and see what numbers and shapes you can spot.

⭐ Can you find:

* A number on a house or building
* A number on a car or sign
* A circle
* A square or rectangle
* Something you can count, such as trees, cars, doors or lamp posts

My counting challenge:
I counted _____________

Draw a picture of something you spotted on your walk.

Choose three numbers that you spot in your local area.

Number 1: _______
Number 2: _______
Number 3: _______

Challenge: Choose two of your numbers and make a number sentence.

________ + ________ = ________

or

________ − ________ = ________

⭐⭐⭐ Dring Yn Uwch

Choose something to count on your walk, such as cars, trees, houses, buses or lamp posts.

We counted ____________.

Can you estimate how many you might see before you start counting?

My estimate: ____________

My actual count: ____________

Was your estimate more than, less than or equal to your actual count?

Remember: You can write, draw or ask a grown-up to help record what you discover.

Have fun being a Maths Explorer!
