🌟 Inquiry Homework: Shoebox Puppet Shadow Theatre

This week in school, your child made a shadow puppet.
At home, they will now design and build a shoebox shadow theatre for a puppet. 

 What to do

1. Make the theatre - Use a shoebox to create a stage

When you are making your shadow puppet theatre you will need to cut a window in one long side (this is where the shadows will appear), then cut a small hole at the back for a torch or lamp. The puppet will go between the light and the window.

2. Create a background

Inside the shoebox, your child should add a setting for their puppet:

It could be a jungle, a castle, a home, an ocean or anywhere they imagine!

They can use:

• Paper
• Junk modelling
• Fabric
• Natural objects
• Drawings

3. Test the shadows

• Shine a torch inside and see:
• What happens to the shadow?
• Does it change if the puppet moves closer or further away?

🌟 Dring yn Uwch (Extra Challenge)

• Add moving parts (trees, waves, clouds)?
• Create a short story to perform inside their shoebox theatre?
• Create a new shadow puppet for their theatre.
