    VE Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration

On Thursday 8th May, we joined children across the UK in marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We jhad a reflective minute’s silence to honour those who served and sacrificed, followed by a lovely picnic on the school field in the sunshine.

A huge thank you to Cez, our fantastic Catering Manager, for organising such a wonderful spread for everyone to enjoy.

A special highlight of the day was a visit from Marion, a member of the local Penllyn WI, who shared her childhood memories of VE Day and what life was like growing up during the Second World War.

Thank you, Marion, for bringing history to life for our pupils — it was a privilege to listen and learn.

    Period Dignity Workshop – Y5/6

On Friday, our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in an important workshop led by the charity Period Dignity. The session helped pupils understand the science and facts about menstruation, promoted body confidence, and supported open, respectful discussion. We’re proud to be part of a school where these conversations can happen with maturity and care.

    Full Governing Body Meeting

Thank you to our governors who attended this week’s Full Governing Body meeting. Your continued support and strategic guidance are invaluable in shaping the future of our school.

    Coding Club Launches!

This week saw the launch of our brand new Coding Club, proudly run by one of our talented Year 6 pupils. Toby kicked off the first session with a brilliant introduction to creating ‘clicker’ games using Scratch. Coding Club is already proving to be a huge hit—bendigedig, Toby!

    Upcoming Assessments

Next week, pupils across the school will be completing a range of end-of-year assessments. These will include the Welsh Government’s online Personalised Assessments (formerly known as National Tests), as well as in-house teacher assessments. These help us to track individual progress and will inform the end-of-year Annual Reports to Parents, which will be shared in July.

    PTA Summer Planning Meeting

Our next PTA meeting will take place on Monday at 7:00 pm in the Year 5/6 classroom. We’ll be planning our summer events and fundraising activities. Everyone is welcome—we’d love to see you there!

    Dear Llangan Families,

What an action-packed week it’s been — and the sunshine made it even better!

Our Year 5 pupils started the week with an unforgettable residential trip to Morfa Bay from Monday to Wednesday. They tackled adventurous activities like climbing, bodyboarding, and even a muddy assault course — all with big smiles and plenty of enthusiasm.

Beyond the fun, they gained so much from the experience: confidence, teamwork, and memories they’ll treasure forever. Their behaviour was exemplary, and they represented Llangan beautifully. A huge shoutout to Llansannor Primary School, who joined us — this made for a fantastic transition link as our pupils start thinking about the next steps in their education.

  • Friday 14th March: National Science Week at Llangan Primary School

    Published 14/03/25, by James Griffiths

What an incredible week it’s been! We kicked off our National Science Week Celebrations with a whole school assembly, focusing on the theme ‘Change and Adapt.’ Pupils impressed us all by sharing their understanding of what change and adaptation mean to them.

On Tuesday, the school buzzed with excitement as every teacher delivered a thrilling science investigation to each class. Our 'Meltdown Mayhem' experiment had pupils exploring heating, melting, and the properties of materials — from states of matter to understanding insulators and conductors. Pupils came up with innovative ideas on how to slow down melting ice caps and glaciers, linking science to real-world problems.
