Jump-In: To infinity and beyond
We have had a very busy and exciting week in class! On Tuesday, we launched our new topic with a fantastic Jump-in Day, where the children were fully immersed in all things space. The classroom was full of creativity as the children designed and created models of planets, rockets, and aliens, which will come together to form a stunning space scene on our class ceiling. Thank you so much for all your support in providing materials and for helping the children dress up for the day – they truly looked amazing!
In Maths, we have been revising multiplication, building confidence and reinforcing key strategies. In Literacy, we kicked off our brand-new writing journey focusing on non-chronological reports. The children had an amazing first day, taking part in an exciting escape room challenge that really got them thinking. Next week, we will be analysing a model text to identify the key features needed for successful report writing.
Our science learning has begun with a new topic on light. This week, the children explored different sources of light, both natural and artificial, and worked together to write a clear definition of what light is. In Inquiry, we started our journey by researching and recording our findings based on the big question: “What would we see in space?”
It has been a busy but very enjoyable week, and the children have shown great enthusiasm across all areas of learning. Don’t forget that next week we have our class trip to Techniquest on Thursday – we are all very much looking forward to it!
