Friday 9.1.26

Creoso'n ol! Welcome back!

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda, Happy New Year to all of our Year 6 children and families.

It's been lovely to welcome the pupils of Dosbarth Llwynog back to school and find out all about the festive break. The pupils have settled quickly and well into the new term and we're excited to get started on our new enquiry:

'How do engineers make human flight possible?'

This week, we have completed some initial tasks to find out what we already know about flight. We have some great knowledge already and we're excited to build on this.

In literacy, we've started exploring encyclopaedias and how information texts can be presented both in books and digitally.

In maths this week, we've started our work on ratio, using our multiplication and division skills to help us.

On Friday we enjoyed taking part in a live Adobe Education lesson. We learnt how to create and edit posters using a wide range of features on Adobe.

Some members of our class also took part in a writing project this week with some of our cluster schools. The writing project will run this term and result in a published collection of short stories! Watch this space!

Coming up next week:

  • Using our ratio calculation to solve problems
  • Planning to write our own encyclopaedia entry
  • Research into the forces needed for successful flight
  • Year 6 trip to South Wales Aviation Museum (SWAM) on Tuesday. Please order a grab bag or provide a packed lunch.

Have a great weekend!
