Homework Task for Pupils Over the Christmas Break
Dear Pupils,
As we approach the festive season, I am excited to share a special homework task that will allow you to reflect on your learning journey while also enjoying the magic of Christmas! This task is designed to celebrate your creativity and strengthen your mathematical skills.
Task 1: Poem Creation
Your first task is to write a poem based on your learning journey about castles. Think about all the fascinating facts and experiences you have encountered during our lessons. You might want to include details about the history of castles, their architecture, or even your favourite castle-related activities. Remember, poetry can take many forms, so feel free to express yourself in a way that feels right for you. Use your imagination and let your creativity shine!
Task 2: Christmas Maths Problems
Next, you will complete a set of Christmas-themed maths problems. These problems will incorporate the skills you have developed in multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and place value. Here are some examples:
-
If you have 5 Christmas trees and each tree needs 12 decorations, how many decorations do you need in total?
-
You have 48 gifts to wrap, and each roll of wrapping paper can wrap 6 gifts. How many rolls of wrapping paper do you need?
-
A family is making Christmas cookies. If they bake 3 batches with 15 cookies in each batch, how many cookies do they have altogether?
-
There are 24 days until Christmas. If you want to save £2 each day to buy a gift, how much money will you have saved by Christmas?
This will not only reinforce your mathematical understanding but also make learning fun during the holiday season!
I encourage you to take your time with these tasks and enjoy the process. Remember, this is an opportunity to showcase your strengths and creativity. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am proud of all your efforts and can’t wait to see the wonderful work you produce!
Happy holidays and happy learning!
