Friday 12th December

Dear families,

Llangan has been feeling wonderfully festive this week, and the celebrations continue as we jingle our way into the final days of term. Next week is packed full of Christmas cheer, and we’re very excited to share what’s coming up.

On Monday, our Year 6 pupils will be visiting Cowbridge Comprehensive School to watch their Christmas production. It promises to be a real treat, and we’re sure they’ll return full of inspiration and festive sparkle.

On Wednesday, we look forward to welcoming you to our Junior Carol Concert at 9:30am and again at 2:00pm. Children should come in school uniform. Before each performance, our brilliant PTA will be in the dinner hall offering festive drinks, mince pies and the opportunity to buy a Christmas raffle prize. A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who have volunteered their time to make this possible—your support really does sleigh us!

Thursday brings a very special festive visitor to Llangan… someone dressed in red who has been checking his list twice. A big thank you to our amazing PTA for organising his arrival. Children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers, and we will enjoy a Christmas lunch together in the dinner hall—one of the highlights of the season.

On Friday 19th, we’ll celebrate the end of term with a special assembly in the morning before the whole school comes together for a buffet lunch in the hall. Sandwich options are available on Cypad, and the PTA have kindly ordered Christmas crackers for the children to enjoy. In the afternoon, classes will hold their Christmas parties, and pupils are welcome to wear their own clothes or party outfits as we finish the term in style.

Looking ahead, Monday 5th January is an INSET day and school will be closed to pupils as staff take part in training. Children return to school on Tuesday 6th January, refreshed and ready for the new term.

This week has already been full of festive highlights. Our whole-school trip to the New Theatre in Cardiff to see Sleeping Beauty was a tremendous success. The children were brilliantly behaved, enchanted by Gethin Jones and Owain Wyn Evans on stage, and full of joy throughout the day. It’s no easy task taking almost 130 pupils into the centre of Cardiff, but our staff team managed it superbly—what a magical experience for us all.

On Friday, the Infants melted our hearts with their beautiful performance of Whoops-a-Daisy Angel. Their singing, acting and dancing were simply wonderful, filling the hall with festive warmth and reminding us why this time of year feels so special. We certainly have some future stars of the stage among us.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend. We hope the children have a good rest so they are ready for our final festive week of term. Let’s make it a tree-mendous finish!
