Busy Bees on a Mexican Winter Adventure!
What a busy and festive week it’s been in Dosbarth Gwenynen! This week, as part of our Winter Around the World mini inquiry, we packed our imaginary suitcases and travelled all the way to Mexico.
The children learned about Noche Buena (poinsettia), a beautiful and important flower in Mexican culture, especially during Christmas time. They had great fun painting their own vibrant poinsettias – lots of red, green, and very creative brushes at work!
We’ve also started our Christmas crafts, and the classroom is beginning to feel wonderfully festive.
We’ve continued practising for our Christmas concert, and the children are becoming more confident with their songs and actions. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork, you might even hear a few tunes at home!
In literacy this week, the children began writing letters to Father Christmas. We talked about what a letter is, who it’s for, and what we might like to include. There have been some very thoughtful (and exciting!) ideas shared.
In numeracy, we’ve been working on number recognition by matching numbers on winter trees to the correct number of lights. The children did a fantastic job counting carefully and checking their work.
