Preparing our Fire Circle

Forest School - 20.11.25

This week, our Forest School sessions have been nothing short of spectacular. We’ve delved into various aspects of safety and responsibility as we navigate the beautiful environment around us.

One of our key focuses has been developing risk assessments. The children have been actively involved in identifying potential hazards and understanding how to mitigate them. This hands-on approach has made them more aware of their surroundings, which is essential as we embark on our outdoor adventures.

With fire safety being a paramount concern, we raised awareness among the children about the importance of handling fire responsibly. Through engaging discussions and demonstrations, they learned vital practices for keeping safe around flames.

Excitingly, we began to implement a fire circle in our school grounds! This is a wonderful initiative that will not only provide a space for controlled fires but will also foster a sense of community as we come together around it.

The highlight of our sessions was the opportunity to create small fires under careful supervision. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and it enabled them to put their newfound knowledge into practice. They embraced teamwork while making sure everyone around them was safe and sound.

As we reflect on our time in the forest, it's clear that the skills learned here will serve our children well, both in and out of the classroom.
